This weeks’ “Sunday Sit Down” is with the incredibly talented Olivia Rose Havelock, the woman behind the beautiful made to order brand, Olivia Rose The Label. Olivia Rose the Label has grown to be incredibly successful over the past few years, so I was really excited to chat to Olivia about her experience, her role as a one girl band running a successful fashion brand, and of course her gorgeous designs. I had a lovely time chatting to her and I hope you’ll love reading this little interview I had with her!
“I’m Olivia π Founder and designer / maker at Olivia Rose The Label and I’m 26 years old. I’ve been living in Edinburgh for 3 years now, but I am actually from a small Northern town, Middlesbrough, in England!”
Β “My grandma! When I was younger she taught me to sew and was the most stylish person ever, I think growing up in an environment like that made me always want to have my own business and be creative / design everyday!”
Β
Β Β “I’ve always loved fashion, I used to dress up alllllll the time when I was younger and that has carried through to now, I just love experiment with silhouette and I think that shines through with my designs and my style.”
Β
“It feels surreal, every time it happens I have to sit back and think ‘ wow I really made that and now they are wearing it!’ Not only celebrities but with my own customers too! Its the most amazing feeling seeing people look so happy and confident in my pieces!”
Β Β “They differ massively, I can spend all day cutting and sewing orders – which to me is a fun day and is most days of the week, I usually sew around 2 – 3 items everyday! Or I have days where I have to sit and answer emails / dms / bookkeeping / taxes etc etc the list goes on forever! Haha”
Β
Β Β “Yes!! I love listening to podcasts! my fave is Mile higher podcast atm! its usually about crazy conspiracies which I love! I’m also obsessed with tiger king on Netflix at the minute, I have it on in the background right now! Or I’m listening to music – my faves are the smiths, the 1975, queen, tame impala etc π “
“To me, it means making conscious choices in what you make and/or purchase. There are a million ways to be sustainable – but kind of impossible to do it all. As long as you’re making the best choices you can and being responsible about it and putting thought behind what you do, then you are doing a good job!”
Β
“Such a scary question atm! but hopefully, happy healthy and still sewing for all my lovely customers!”
I hope you loved my little sit down with Olivia!
